Services / House Wiring & Rewiring
Older installations were never designed for air conditioners, induction hobs, water heaters and a dozen chargers running at once. We plan and install wiring that carries today’s loads safely — from a single new circuit to a complete rewire.
◆ Signs it is time
Wiring ages quietly. Insulation hardens and cracks, joints loosen and circuits get extended far beyond their original design. These are the most common signs that a partial or full rewire is worth considering.
Sign 01
Old insulation becomes brittle and can crumble when disturbed, exposing live conductors.
Sign 02
Repeated nuisance tripping across the house can indicate widespread insulation breakdown.
Sign 03
Extension leads and adaptors everywhere mean the circuits were not planned for current use.
Sign 04
Brown marks or melted plastic show connections that have been overheating.
Sign 05
Boards without RCD protection leave people exposed to shock risk on faulty circuits.
Sign 06
Opening walls for a renovation is the most cost-effective moment to replace tired wiring.
◆ What a rewire includes
We walk the property with you, list every room’s needs and calculate loads so each circuit and cable is sized correctly.
A new distribution board with correctly rated MCBs and RCD protection, clearly labelled circuit by circuit.
Cables are routed through conduit or chased into walls along safe zones, keeping runs neat and accessible.
Sockets, switches, light points and appliance outlets are fitted, levelled and connected.
Every circuit is tested for insulation, continuity, polarity and earth. You receive a circuit list and test summary.
◆ Partial or full?
Not every property needs a complete rewire. After testing, we recommend the smallest scope that will make the installation safe and fit for purpose.
Partial rewire
Best when testing shows one area or a few circuits are failing — for example the kitchen, a bathroom or an extension — while the rest of the installation is sound.
Full rewire
Recommended when cable insulation has deteriorated throughout, when there is no proper earthing, or when a full renovation makes it the sensible time to start over.
◆ Wiring FAQ
It depends on the size of the property and access. A typical apartment takes several working days; larger houses take longer. We give you a schedule after the survey so you can plan around it.
Often, yes. We work room by room and restore power to finished circuits at the end of each day wherever possible. Some days may involve limited power while the board is changed.
Concealed wiring looks cleaner and suits renovations; surface conduit is quicker, causes less wall damage and is easier to modify later. We will explain the trade-offs for each room.
We fill and make good the cable chases ready for painting. Final painting and decorative finishing are usually handled by your painter.
◆ Ready when you are
Book a wiring assessment. We will test the existing installation and recommend the right scope — partial, full or simply a few targeted upgrades.
