Services / Electrical Repair

Electrical repair that finds the fault — not just the symptom.

Breakers that refuse to stay on, sockets that spark, lights that flicker or circuits that have gone completely dead. Our electricians trace electrical faults methodically with proper test equipment, repair the cause and re-test the circuit before handing it back to you.

◆ Common faults we repair

If it trips, sparks, buzzes or goes dark, we can trace it.

Electrical faults tend to fall into a handful of families: overloads, short circuits, earth leakage, loose connections and failed components. Knowing which family a fault belongs to is the key to a lasting repair.

Breaker or RCD keeps tripping

We identify whether the trip is caused by overload, a short circuit or earth leakage, then isolate the faulty circuit or appliance.

Dead, loose or sparking sockets

Burnt terminals, worn contacts and loose back-box connections are replaced with quality accessories and tightened correctly.

Flickering or dimming lights

We check for loose neutrals, failing switches, incompatible dimmers, voltage drop and overloaded lighting circuits.

Burning smell or hot fittings

Overheating joints and undersized cables are located with thermal and resistance checks and corrected before they cause damage.

Partial or total power loss

Whether one room or the whole property is dark, we work back from the board to find the failed connection or device.

Appliance circuits blowing fuses

Kitchen, water-heater and air-conditioner circuits are checked for correct cable size, protection and connection quality.

◆ How a repair visit works

Measured, not guessed.

01

Listen and isolate

We ask when the fault started, what was running at the time and whether anything changed recently. Then we safely isolate the affected circuit.

02

Test and locate

Insulation resistance, continuity, polarity and earth tests narrow the problem to a specific cable run, connection or appliance.

03

Quote and repair

You receive a clear price for the repair. Once approved, we replace damaged parts and remake connections properly.

04

Re-test and explain

The circuit is tested again and switched back on. We tell you what failed, why, and how to avoid a repeat.

◆ Safety note

Smell burning or see scorch marks? Switch off first.

If it is safe to reach the distribution board, switch off the affected circuit or the main switch. Do not touch damaged fittings, do not keep resetting a tripping breaker, and keep children away from the area until an electrician has checked it.

◆ Pricing, simply

What you pay for — and what you do not.

Repair costs depend on what the fault turns out to be, so we never quote a final figure blind. Instead, we keep the process transparent.

Visit & diagnosis

Agreed before we arrive

The call-out and diagnosis charge is confirmed when you book, so there are no surprises on the doorstep.

Repair quote

Written before work starts

After testing, you get a written price for parts and labour. You can approve, ask questions or decline.

Materials

Quality you can see

We use branded breakers, sockets and cable, and show you what is being fitted before it goes in.

Extra work

Only with your approval

If we find something else that needs attention, we explain it and price it separately. Nothing is added silently.

◆ Repair FAQ

Before you book a repair.

Time-related tripping usually points to a specific appliance or a load peak — for example when an air conditioner, iron and water heater run together. It can also signal moisture getting into an outdoor or bathroom circuit. Testing each circuit under load helps pinpoint it.

A socket or plug that feels warm to the touch is a warning sign of a loose or overloaded connection. Stop using it and have it checked; overheating joints can damage cable insulation and cause fires.

In most cases, yes. Most faults are local — a joint, an accessory or one cable run. A rewire is only recommended when testing shows the insulation or cable throughout the circuit has deteriorated.

We focus on the fixed installation: wiring, boards, outlets and fittings. If we find the fault is inside an appliance, we will tell you clearly so you can take it to the manufacturer or a specialist.
